COLUMBUS — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium announced it is sending $10,000 to an emergency fund that will go to helping Ukrainian zoos keep animals safe amid the Russian attacks.

“The Columbus Zoo Family of Parks stands with the people and zoos of Ukraine,” the zoo said.
The zoo says 100 percent of the funds will be used for animal care.
The fund was established by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).

“Animals and staff of Ukrainian zoos played no part in initiating the conflict, yet these peaceful conservation and education institutions and their animals are acutely vulnerable to the societal chaos caused by war,” EAZA said in a statement.
