The community of Yellow Springs was shocked to learn that a welfare check Friday night led to a grisly discovery.

When Yellow Springs officers got to the home in the 1200 block of Livermore Street, they found a person with apparent gunshot wounds.

That person died from their injuries, a spokesperson for the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) confirmed.

“I’m pretty stunned, just not something you expect at all,” Neil Falkfus, who lives on Livermore Street said.

Village police or BCI have not released the name of the victim.

“You can’t prepare yourself for that ... it’s shocking,” Kalfus said.

Jail records show that Yellow Springs police arrested Frederick Muenchau-Peterson on murder charges.

We will continue to follow this story.
