As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00 p.m., the sprawling worksite is located in Huber Heights, just off Interstate 70 and State Route 235.

The dozens of acres for the first Buc-ee’s in Ohio may include 120 gas pumps and a retail store close to the size of a giant box store.

Work there was threatened by a bitter argument over water and sewer rights between Clark County and Huber Heights.

“We have our opinion of that and they have theirs but in the end the best thing for everyone is just to resolve it,: Huber Heights Mayor Jeff Gore said.

Gore told News Center 7′s Mike Campbell that he is very happy to put the government squabbling to rest and focus on bringing Buc-ee’s to the city.

Gore said he believes it will be an economic driver for the community.

“Of course, that area, that’s the far eastern edge of the city, we do expect people coming from all over,” Gore said.

Gore said he is especially glad to see construction workers again driving equipment at the massive worksite.

At this point in construction, most of the work being done is on underground infrastructure, water pies and electrical work, everything needed to bring the huge and unique business to life.

“That’s actually really exciting. I’ve seen it all over, like on TikTok and the news and everything and we’re really excited about Buc-ee’s coming,” Dayton resident Erin Payne said.

Payne said she doesn’t usually come out to Huber Heights but says that when Buc-ee’s is open, that will change.

“The water and sewer and everything going on, that’s when I really started looking into it and started getting really excited about it coming up here,” Payne said.

Dave Dicke, from Huber Heights, is familiar with Buc-ee’s stores, which are primarily in the South.

Now the first one in Ohio will bring the chains trademark features to Huber Heights.

“They usually have good products and lower prices, so it should be good for the consumers,” Dicke said. “Well, Buc-ee’s is well-known and well-liked and it’s going to be a plus for the neighborhood.”

The Buc-ee’s corporation held a ground-breaking on Aug. 8, and said that they expected to be open in 15 months.

Gore said that Buc-ee’s believes they can stay on that schedule, which would set the opening date for December of 2025.
