Coronavirus: Businesses have to decide whether customers should wear masks

DAYTON — Governor DeWine announced this week that while employees will be required to wear masks, customers will not be forced to wear them.

It will be up to each business on whether or not they will require their customers to wear masks.

News Center 7′s Molly Koweek spoke with local businesses who say they are putting safety first.

One of the many businesses requiring face masks to be work by customers is Brim in the Oregon District.

They will be allowed to reopen May 12th and safety is their number one priority.

“If one of my customers got sick from us, or one of my staff members got sick from my customers, I don’t know that I would be able to forgive myself for that,” said owner Amelia O’Dowg.

One customer, Jordan Vangel is glad the stores and not the state are making that decision.

“I don’t like government regulations so if people want to mandate a mask, mandate a mask,” explained Vangel. “Just don’t let their government do it.”

Another customer, Chris Like, has no problem with some stores making it mandatory, but thinks they should the extra cost.

“I just think if they want us to wear masks, they should provide the masks,” said Like.

Brim will be supplying masks for shoppers who don’t have them and will be doing appointment only shopping.
