OHIO — Over one million Ohioans have filed unemployment claims over the last six weeks, with more than 92,000 new claims last week, new state data shows.

Last week, 92,920 people filed initial jobless claims with the state.

In the last six weeks, the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services has distributed more than $1.45 billion in benefits to 481,00 claimants.

“Each claim is important to us, and we recognize the hardship that the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on many Ohio families," ODJFS said. “ll eligible Ohioans will receive their unemployment benefits – and any delays in processing their claims will not reduce the amount received.”
