Coronavirus Pandemic: What you need to know Monday

“My Smile Behind My Mask” is an initiative started by a nurse at Miami Valley Hospital to change the way patients and health care workers see each other.

It’s a simple idea that is gaining interest, especially among those who spend an awful lot of their time wearing PPE.

“I was trying to think of something we could do to boost morale,” the nurse, Lorna Stringfield, told News Center 7′s Molly Koweek.

LATEST STATE DATA: As of Monday afternoon, there have been at least 85,177 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 3,344 deaths, and 10,285 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health. 59,413 people are presumed to have recovered from the virus in the state.

Ohio has an estimated population of approximately 11.7 million, census records show.

There have been 1,339,549 people test for the coronavirus in Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

A total of 9,733 health care workers have tested positive which is about 11 percent of the cases.
