Dayton — This June, there will be no Reunion Weekend for alumni of the University of Dayton.
The event has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and concerns about travel and gatherings.
The event was scheduled for June 12th to June 14th. On its website, the university posted a statement saying in part, “Every year, alumni look forward to celebrating Reunion Weekend, and this decision was not made lightly. Officials at the University of Dayton have been receiving guidance from the Ohio public health leadership and have been monitoring this rapidly evolving situation, which is projected to continue into the months ahead.”
UD Reunion Weekend typically includes a series of events from class parties to golf tournaments and campus tours. The class of 1970 was scheduled to have a Golden Flyers Induction Ceremony, according to a previously published schedule.
It has yet to be determined whether the university will be able to reschedule the weekend or hold a replacement event later in the year.
