As News Center 7 previously reported, Lucas was found dead inside an apartment off Bellcreek Lane and Springmeadow Lane after an hours-long standoff on Friday. Officials said he died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, but his cause and manner of death have not been determined, according to the coroner’s office.
The U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) was working with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to serve a warrant for felonious assault at an apartment complex when Lucas reportedly fired shots, hitting one of the task force officers in the leg.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to U.S. Marshal Michael Black.
Investigators said on Friday that they didn’t believe any law enforcement officers fired shots during the shooting and standoff. Our cameras did catch SWAT team members firing concussion grenades and distraction devices into the apartment.
The shooting and standoff remain under investigation.
