Driver in deadly wrong-way crash on wrong side of I-75 for seconds before crash, troopers say

Troopers are still working to determine what caused a man to crossover I-75 and crash into multiple vehicles leading to the man’s death over the weekend.

Robert C. Williams, 34, of Riverside, was driving the wrong way on the highway for a matter of seconds before the crash happened in the area of Dixie Drive in West Carrollton. Williams died on scene.

Williams was going north on I-75 and then left the highway and drove through the grass median before entering the southbound lanes, where the multi-vehicle crash happened around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, state troopers said.

Troopers shut down the southbound lanes of I-75 while they investigated.

According to the state patrol Williams ended up hitting four other vehicles on the highway. Two people in those vehicles were taken to the hospital, but are expected to be OK. Two others were not hurt.
