MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Three shelters in Montgomery County will receive thousands in funding.

State Rep. Willis Blackshear (D-Dayton) announced that the state awarded $1,254,000 in grants to combat homelessness in Montgomery County.

Funding was allocated to the following agencies:
- Daybreak, Inc. $330,000
- Miami Valley Community Action Partnership $220,000
- St. Vincent de Paul Social Services, Inc. $740,000
News Center 7 has previously reported that St. Vincent de Paul Society announced it will stop operating its Dayton homeless shelter for men next summer.
The society cited financial reasons.
“We’ve experienced both great inflationary pressures and the disappearance of extraordinary government funding to help us through the pandemic,” Michael Vanderburgh, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul Society previously told News Center 7.
