SR 41 back open in Clark County after train hits car stuck on tracks

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Clark County — UPDATE @ 10:33 a.m.:

State Route 41 is back open following the crash involving a car and a train that resulted in no injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The driver reported that the sun was blocking his vision and he crashed into the crossing arm bar just as he attempted to pull his sun-visor down to block the sun.

He was stuck on the tracks and managed to put his car in reverse but not before an oncoming train crashed into him.

No injuries were reported in the crash and the driver refused medical treatment on scene.

INITIAL REPORT:

State troopers have shut down state Route 41 in Clark County following a crash involving a car and train.

The crash was reported on state Route 41 just north of Interstate 70 around 8:50 a.m.

No injuries have been reported in the crash, according to initial reports.

Traffic is being diverted in the area, however it was not immediately known how long state Route 41 was expected to be shut down.
