A woman suffering from apparent burn injuries was pulled from her burning apartment this afternoon and rushed to a waiting medic unit at the Springwood Apartments at 840 E. E. John St.

Rick Avery was working with his son and son’s friend in a nearby apartment when they smelled smoke.

He said they quickly rushed into action and busted down the door to rescue the woman.

The fire was contained to one apartment unit, and no other injuries were reported.

A medical helicopter was requested for the patient. Her condition is not known.
