Massive fire destroys Darke County barn

DARKE COUNTY — Smoke billowed as flames consumed a Darke County barn Saturday night near Greenville.

Firefighters from multiple departments responded to the fire reported around 10 p.m. in the 2700 block of state Route 502 in Greenville Twp.

A portion of the state highway was closed because of the large barn fire.

It is not clear whether any animals or property was in the barn.

Crews from Greenville Twp., Greenville, Bradford, Gettysburg, New Madison, Arcanum fire departments responded, in addition to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

It was the second barn fire reported Saturday evening in Darke County.

A barn fire was reported around 5 p.m. in the 7900 block of Painter Creek Arcanum Road in Van Buren Twp.

No injuries were reported with either fire.
