A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Pontiac G6, driven by an 18-year-old male, was traveling south in the left through lane on Salem Avenue when the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The 53-year-old was walking across the 3600 block when the collision occurred.
A passer-by, who was also the 9-1-1 caller, put on her car’s flashers to alert other motorists that the pedestrian was lying in the middle of the roadway.
“I turned around and put my flashers on so that no one would hit them again because they’re just in the street. You can’t hardly see them because it’s dark,” she said.
The man was transported to an area hospital, while the two occupants inside the vehicle were not injured, the release stated.
Neither the pedestrian’s nor the driver’s names were released.
The incidents remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Unit.
