UPDATE @ 6:22 p.m.: Investigators are working to determine the cause of the smoky fire at the Burger King on Pentagon Boulevard in Beavercreek that will keep the business closed several days, said Deputy Chief John Mercs, Beavercreek Twp. Fire Department.

The issue was in the duct work, the ventilation for the cooking, according to the preliminary report, Mercs said, noting there were initial reports of flames coming from some of the roof vents.

There were no injuries because Beavercreek police and the building manager were able to get workers and customers out of the building quickly, he said.

The Burger King won’t reopen tonight, and probably not until late Wednesday or the next day, Mercs said.

“They’ll have a lot of clean up to do,” he said.

Mercs estimated the fire and smoke caused a few thousand dollars damage, mostly to the interior.
