Crews respond to fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — Crews worked to extinguish a fire in Springfield Tuesday afternoon.

Crews were called to reports of smoke showing from a residence in the 600 block of Rice Street around 5:45 p.m.

The residence is a two-family dwelling, the upper unit was impacted by the fire, but not the lower unit, according to fire officials.

Video from the scene shows the upper windows of the house knocked out and a ladder stretching to them.

Fire officials said no one was injured during the fire or displaced as it was vacant.

The fire was extinguished around 6:00 p.m., fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
