Firefighter removed to local hospital following massive Dayton house fire

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 1:10 a.m: One firefighter was taken to Miami Valley Hospital after experiencing reported dizziness following a massive house fire that occurred on South Paul Laurence Dunbar Street late Tuesday, officials confirm.

Crews responded to the 600 block around 11:30 p.m. and were met with a fully engulfed vacant structure.

Fire officials say they took safety precautions and did not enter the house due to it being boarded up, which is a sign the structure is potentially dangerous.

The fire is considered suspicious and an investigator was called to the scene.

The firefighter, whose name was not released, was hospitalized with non-life threatening conditions.

Crews continue to battle the fire over an hour after the initial dispatch.

Crews are on scene in the 600 block of South Paul Laurence Dunbar Street for a fully involved structure fire that occurred late Tuesday.
