TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 5:20 a.m: A mother and her two children escaped a house fire that occurred on Melgrove Avenue early Wednesday morning.

Fire crews responded to the single-story home in the 4100 block around 4:25 a.m. and found smoke coming from the structure.
The incident was upgraded to a working fire after further investigation revealed fire coming from the wall in the kitchen area.
Damage estimates were not immediately available, though the home’s roof did sustain damage.
Fire investigators were called to the scene to determine how the fire started.
The occupants were not injured. It is unknown if RedCross will be called to assist in their displacement.
