Mother, baby rescued from apartment fire in Dayton; investigation underway

DAYTON — A mother and her baby were rescued from an apartment fire in Dayton Monday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to respond to a report of a fire with victims trapped shortly before 2 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Euclid Avenue, according to Dayton Fire District Chief Andrew Wiley.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the building charged with smoke and a mother holding a baby hanging out of the second story window, Wiley said.

The mother and the baby were rescued from the building and taken to Dayton Children’s Medical Center in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is being considered suspicious and remains under investigation at this time, Wiley said.

Crews are on scene of an apartment fire in Dayton Monday afternoon.

Dayton fire crews are responding to the fire in the 1000 block of South Euclid Avenue, according to a social media post from Dayton Police and Fire. The fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m., initial emergency scanner traffic indicated.

According to the post, there were reports of smoke showing from a two-story apartment building.

Two victims have been removed from the second floor of the building, the post stated.
