Driver uninjured after train crashes into car in Dayton

DAYTON — Police are investigating after a car was hit by a train in Dayton Saturday evening, Dayton Police Sergeant Clinton Evans told News Center 7.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11, around 8:45 p.m., Dayton police and fire were dispatched to the area of W Stewart Street and S Broadway Street on reports of a train crash.

When crews arrived on scene, they found that one car had been hit by a CSX train.

According to Evans, the male driver was out walking around when first responders arrived. Medics evaluated and cleared him on scene.

The train hit the car at the railroad tracks on S Broadway Street and dragged it 100 to 200 yards, Evans said.

Train operators are inspecting the train cars for any damage. At this time, the train tracks are shut down.

Evans said CSX investigators are heading to the scene.
