2 flown, 1 taken by ambulance following crash on U.S. 68 in Urbana

A head-on collision on U.S. 68 Saturday resulted in two people being flown and one person taken by ambulance to area hospitals.

Crews responded around 4 a.m. to the 1600 block of U.S. 68, just north of Grimes Field Airport to the a possible entrapment crash.

A 2011 Honda, driven by Randy L. Davis, 28, of Belle Center was traveling north on U.S. 68 when he went left of center and collided head-on with a 2005 Chevrolet, driven by Wyatt Auflick, 18, of Bellefontaine, according to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

Davis and Auflick were both transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

At last check, Davis was in serious condition and Auflick was in fair condition, according to Miami Valley Hospital.

Auflick’s passenger, Michael Willoby, 18, of Quincy was transported to Mercy Health Urbana by Mechanicsburg EMS.

U.S. 68 was closed for about two hours while crews remained on scene of the crash that remains under investigation.
