Fire at Burger King in Riverside causes shut down of restaurant at least for tonight

UPDATE @ 7:30 p.m.: Fire officials have shut down the Burger King on Airway Road for the night after fire made its way up into the restaurant's venting system.

Workers saw smoke and dialed 911, a Riverside fire official tells us. No one was injured.

A Riverside fire crew arrived, saw smoke coming from the structure, shut down the business and checked the building.

Crews from Huber Heights, Fairborn and Beavercreek were called to assist, though none of those crews was needed as it turned out.

The restaurant, 4876 Airway Road, will remain closed at least until a safety inspection can occur.

INITIAL REPORT

Crews are on the scene of a commercial structure fire at the Burger King, 4876 Airway Road, in Riverside.

Crews were dispatched about 6:50 p.m. on a report of fire and smoke at the fast food restaurant. Customers and workers were forced to evacuate. There are no reports of any injuries.
