A vehicle going west came to the intersection and went into the eastbound lanes before hitting another vehicle and then pushed a second vehicle into a third vehicle.

“It appears at this point that there may have been a medical issue for that vehicle that went the wrong-way into traffic and that may have been a contributing factor to the accident,” Miamisburg police Sgt. Jon Thompson said.

Suzanne Hendricks of Miamisburg, a respiratory therapist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, said she performed CPR on Wilcox for about 3 minutes before medics arrived.

“He was completely unresponsive, no pulse, no respiration,” she said.

Once medics arrived, they continued rescue breathing and moved Wilcox from his vehicle to an ambulance and then to Sycamore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A 911 caller initially told emergency dispatchers a school bus was involved, however police on the scene said a school bus was in the area of the crash, but not involved.

Hendricks said she also initially thought the bus was involved because it was near the crash scene.
