UPDATE: Dayton man, 45, identified as victim of deadly Springfield shooting

UPDATE @ 1:25 p.m.: 

The victim of a deadly shooting on Bassett Drive in Springfield has been identified as Dewand Moore, 45, of Dayton, according to Springfield police.

Moore was shot multiple times in the 100 block of Bassett Drive around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and died from his injuries at Springfield Regional Medical Center.

A woman, who police are calling a suspect, is being questioned by investigators. However no charges have been filed yet, police said.

Investigators said Moore and the suspect got into an argument when the woman went inside the house to grab a gun and shot him.

FIRST REPORT

A male in his 40s shot multiple times Wednesday morning in the 100 block of Bassett Drive has died, Springfield police said.

The incident was reported around 6:32 a.m.

A CareFlight medical helicopter was requested to transport the man to the hospital initially, according to reports.

Officers blocked a portion of Bassett Drive for the investigation and placed several evidence markers on the ground near a parked Cadillac SUV during their investigation.

Police took a woman into custody for questioning.

The cause of the shooting is unknown.
