Crews to monitor area after underground natural gas leak in Kettering

KETTERING — UPDATE @ 9:25 a.m.: 

Vectren crews will monitor throughout the day after an underground natural gas leak on Widnemere Drive in Kettering, according to crews on the scene.

Removing manhole covers on Windemere Drive appeared to have helped correct the issue, officials said. However, crews will check a few homes in the area as a precaution and will monitor the area during the day.

FIRST REPORT:

Vectren crews have responded and are working to contain an underground natural gas leak on Windemere Drive in Kettering Tuesday morning.

Police and fire crews were dispatched to reports of a natural gas leak in the 1700 block of Windemere Drive, east of Wilmington Pike, around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

No evacuations have been requested but residents on the street have been made aware of the situation, officials told our crew on the scene.

Vectren work crews arrived on the scene around 9 a.m.

No injuries have been reported.
