SPRINGFIELD — Work continues to renovate former Springfield Kroger site for new grocery store that is targeted to open later this fall.
Springfield City Commissioners approved a deal in May for the city to sell the old Kroger site on South Limestone to Groceryland ownership.

Ravindra Patel, President of Groceryland, told News Center 7′s John Bedell the grocery store is targeting a mid-November opening.
“This is given that we get all the equipment and other supplies in time,” Patel said. “We were having issues getting some equipment and materials in time due to pandemic delays.”
Over $2 million work of improvements to the store are needed.
Community members said they were excited for the store’s opening.
“That’s a grocery store that left out neighborhood, put all the community people in a bind, so this new Groceryland grocery store coming in here is definitely overdue and definitely needed,” Myra Gaskins, of Springfield, said.
