UPDATE: Dayton 18-year-old identified as victim of apparent drowning at Glen Helen Nature Preserve

YELLOW SPRINGS — UPDATE @ 9:15 a.m. (May 26):

Jalynn Henderson, 18 of Dayton has been identified as the victim of an apparent drowning at the Glen Helen Nature Preserve Sunday, according to the Greene County Coroner’s Office.

Henderson’s cause of death has not been ruled and remains under investigation.

Additional details were not released.


FIRST REPORT (May 24):

Miami Township Fire and Rescue and Yellow Springs Police Department responded around 2 p.m. to a report of a drowning at the Cascades in the Glen Helen Nature Preserve in Yellow Springs.

The first arriving Yellow Springs officer located the 18-year-old male in the water under a log, jumped in, pulled him to shore and started CPR.

Fire personnel arrived on scene and worked with the police and bystanders to bring him up a steep incline to the trail where ALS resuscitation was started.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene following a lengthy attempt to resuscitate him.

Miami Township Fire and Rescue and Yellow Springs Police Department remind everyone that Glenn Helen is currently closed to the public for the foreseeable future.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a water rescue near a waterfall at the Glenn Helen Nature Preserve around 2 p.m. Sunday.
