CRUISER CAM: Deputies respond after man crashes into Preble County house, becomes combative

Gary Anderson is starting his 4th of July weekend dealing with his insurance company.

Anderson said he was in the kitchen when the crash happened.

“I was sitting right there in the kitchen,” he said. “All I heard was ‘Boom!’”

Anderson showed News Center 7 the damage the driver caused as he waits to file a claim.

After the driver slammed into his front porch, Preble County deputies say the driver got out and attacked the neighbors next door.

They didn’t want to talk to News Center 7 on camera out of concern for their safety, but the man said the family had to fight to keep the violent stranger out of their home.

Cruiser cam video shows what deputies dealt with after the family called 911.

“Obviously hyped up on likely drugs,” said Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson.” “This is probably one of the most aggressive people I’ve seen in a long time.”

He was so combative, deputies had to take him to the hospital in the back of a cruiser.

“I think he had some very minor injuries, but we also had the high level of what we believe the drug intoxication to be, and like we said, mental health issues,” Simpson said.

After the big “boom” at Anderson’s house, he hopes the rest of his holiday weekend will be a little quieter.

Simpson says the driver and suspect is still in the hospital at the time of this reporting.

We will continue updating this story when he is released and learn if will end up facing formal charges.
