Animals dead, damage reported after tornado touches down in Fort Recovery

A tornado touched down in Fort Recovery Friday evening leading to multiple reports of structure damage.

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said the sheriff’s office was aware of three to four houses that had been hit by the tornado. No injuries have been reported.

Damage was reported to multiple structures in Park Road and State Line Road.

Damage was also reported on Burrville Road. A barn on Burrville was hit by the tornado. Two dozen of cattle and multiple goats were killed. News Center 7′s Michael Gordon reported that over 100 animals were evacuated to safer, more stable farms. Dozens of people in the area are showed up to help the family with the damage.

Damage was also reported on St. Peter Road, Hart Road and Sharpsburg Road

Initial emergency scanner traffic reported damage, downed poles and trees near Fort Recovery Lumber on Wabash Road.

Mercer County EMA Director Mike Robbins said the homes that have reported damage were in the rural part of the village.

Robbins noted that none of the damage reported has been classified higher than an EF2.

Thousands are without power, and the Grey urged residents not to call 911 unless they have an emergency.
