National Prescription Drug Take Back Day today; Where to drop off unwanted medication

Local communities participate in National Drug Take-Back Day

The Drug Enforcement Administration has released new information about the upcoming National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Several departments across the region are participating in the Drug Take Back Day. You can locate a collection site near you here.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Harrison Township Substation will be hosting a Drive-Thru Drop Off event.

The drive will take place at 5945 North Dixie Drive from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office and Miami County Sanitary Engineer’s Office will be hosting a drop-off event today.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. residence can drop off their unwanted medication at the Miami County Sanitary Engineer’s Office on North County Road.

Residents in Piqua can take their unwanted medication to the Piqua Municipal Government Complex parking lot at 201 West Water Street from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe and responsible way for people to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs.

The DEA says Take Back Day provides an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.

Pills are the only form of prescription drug accepted on Take Back Day.

In the April 2021 National Drug Take Back Day, nearly 839,000 pounds, close to 420 tons of prescription drugs, according to the DEA.
