Dayton Air Show to take place despite rain, organizers say

DAYTON — After being canceled in 2020 because of COVID-19, the 2021 CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show is back this weekend.

Even as rain moves through the Miami Valley on Sunday, organizers said in a social media post that the final day of the air show will take place “rain or shine.”

“The flying schedule of the show could be adjusted if needed depending on weather,” the post said.

Organizers also said that personal umbrellas are permitted.

The gates opened Saturday at 9 a.m., with crowds of people showing up for the air show’s return.

This year, one of the solo pilots with the Thunderbirds is Beavercreek native, Kyle Oliver.

The Thunderbirds will be joined in the air by the U.S. Navy Super Hornet and Legacy Flight demonstration team, the U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III demonstration team and the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team.

The feature shows begin at 12:00 p.m. and end at 4:15 p.m.

The show schedule is the same for both Saturday and Sunday, but all acts and times are subject to change, according to organizers.
