Dayton Children’s partners with area school to provide new football helmets

CENTERVILLE — Dayton Children’s is helping Centerville’s “Wee Elks” program get new helmets for its football players.

The program said in 2019 they got new helmets that were fitted to each player, but with their highest enrollment expected this year, they need more.

The donation from Dayton Children’s makes it possible for the Wee Elks to buy 85 new helmets.

The youth football program is for children in first through sixth grade and is operated 100 percent by volunteers, according to a release.

Registration for the upcoming football season closes on June 25.
