DAYTON — The Human Relations Council (HRC) will be hosting the Dayton Fair Housing Symposium this morning at the downtown Dayton Metro Library Eichelberg Forum, a spokesperson for HRC said.

It will take place from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at 215 E. 3rd Street and the doors will open for registration at 9:30 a.m.

The event will have housing experts from across the area to discuss issues related to health disparities and discrimination in housing, discrimination in appraisals, housing as a human right and other issues, according to a news release.

“The symposium will focus on the intersection of health disparities and housing, and strategies to address these issues moving forward,” said Erica Fields, HRC executive director. “This event will also bring together housing specialists to address the most pressing housing concerns across the Miami Valley.”

Speakers include Emmy Award winner Joshua Barr, John Zimmerman of the Miami Valley Fair Housing Center and Amaha Sellassie of Sinclair Community College.

The event is is sold out.
