Fire crews found a woman on the first floor and evacuated her from the building, after which she left the area.
Fire crews were able to knock down the fire fairly quickly, and there were no injuries.
Initial investigation found that the house had no utilities, and although the building was occupied fire crews were unsure if the woman inside was the owner of the house or squatting inside. The home had no working smoke detectors.
The fire remains under investigation.
