Dayton firefighters rescue person trapped in house fire

One person rescued after being trapped in a house fire has been taken to Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton District Chief Adam Landis said.

Investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Crews dispatched sometime after 8 p.m. to a 2 1/2-story wood frame home in the 1300 block of Amherst Place found heavy fire on the first and second floors, he said.

Firefighters found the victim on the second floor. The condition of that victim is not known, District Chief Landis said.

He estimated the damage to the structure and contents at $10,000.
