Dayton International Peace Museum to reopen today, feature rare MLK photos

DAYTON — The Dayton International Peace Museum has announced its grand opening, more than two years after it closed its doors due to the pandemic and construction.

The museum will reopen today June 2, at its new location at 10 North Ludlow Street in downtown Dayton.

It will feature the exhibit “The Chicago Freedom Movement”, a rare collection of early photographs of Dr. Martin Luther King and the open housing movement by photographer Bernard Kleina.

Kleina will attend the reopening and a attend a reception that will begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Tickets cost $20 and will be sold in person and on the museum’s website.

Regular museum hours are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., with admission costing $5.
