DAYTON — The City of Dayton is looking to update the parking situation near the Oregon District.
City Manager Shelly Dickstein told News Center 7’s Mike Campbell that the garage on E. Fifth Street, known to some as the Transportation Center Garage or the Convention Center Garage, has around 1,400 parking spots.

“It’s a great parking supply, especially for the Oregon District, entertainment district, you know when they go out and do ‘Out on 5th,’” Dickstein said, noting that the price to part is “pretty reduced.”
City Commissioner voted Wednesday morning to enter into $20,000 Design Services Agreement with O&S Associates, Inc. to evaluate the plans to update the Oregon Parking Garage. This, Dickstein said, would help the city reevaluate the current condition of the garage and determine how much work will need to be done.
Dickstein said they anticipate the project costing around $1.5 million. She also said the city anticipates looking into bids for contractors in the late summer.
