Dayton man charged with deadly Gard Avenue shooting

DAYTON — A Dayton man has been charged with murder, felonious assault and a weapons charge for the deadly shooting of a woman on Gard Avenue earlier this week.

Walter Rodgers, 30, was taken into custody earlier this week and arrested at Dayton Police headquarters the afternoon of the shooting.

Nascia Goodwin, 18, was shot multiple times and died in the side yard of Rodgers’ home in the 900 block of Gard Avenue.

Goodwin and Rodgers were co-workers, according to court records, and a search warrant showed that some of the victim’s belongings were found in Rogers’ home.

Rodgers had been on parole for a previous case, court records read.
