DAYTON — An 18-year-old Dayton man was indicted on murder and other charges in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman in November, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Jayland Redd was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on one count of murder and five other firearm-related charges in the shooting death of La’Peetra Dawson on Millicent Avenue.

Dawson was sitting on a couch inside the home on Millicent Avenue Nov. 14 when a car drove past and fired several shots at the home, Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck said in a media release.
“One of those bullets went through the wall of the house and struck (Dawson), killing her,” Heck said.
Redd was arrested Nov. 27 at a home on Lorenz Avenue and has remained booked in the Montgomery County Jail.
Redd is also accused of being involved in a pursuit with Huber Heights police and other jurisdictions on Nov. 26.

It was not immediately known if Redd is facing any charges connected to the pursuit.
Redd will be arraigned on charges connected to the homicide Dec. 11.
