DAYTON — Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley announced Wednesday she will not seek re-election for the city’s highest office.
“I believe we have turned a corner in Dayton,” Whaley said. “This is the best job I have ever had, but I believe our city can only continue to grow if we give space and opportunity to new leaders and new ideas.”
Whaley was first elected Mayor in 2013.
She did not immediate announce any plans for her future.
“I’ll have more news soon about what’s next for me,” Whaley said. “I will still be your neighbor and this city’s biggest advocate.”
