UPDATE @ 6:16 p.m.: An eyewitness to the reported robbery at the Dollar General on Wayne Avenue in Dayton said the store clerk fought briefly with the suspect, who ran off.

The clerk had the suspect on the floor and was punching him, said Kristina Ybanez, who was waiting for her husband to complete some purchases when a white male came in and grabbed a cash register.
“He didn’t get nothing,” she said. “He just came in and started robbing.”
Ybanez said she suffered an arm injury when she jumped the counter trying to avoid the scuffle.
The clerk confirmed the story for News Center 7. He suffered some cuts to his hands.
INITIAL REPORT
Police are investigating a reported robbery at the Dollar General on Wayne Avenue, near Wyoming Street, in Dayton.
Several officers are on scene. The incident was reported about 5:30 p.m.
No injuries have been reported.
