POLICE: Man arrested in Woodland Cemetery after foot pursuit

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 5:35 p.m.:  The two people involved in the reported assault Saturday afternoon near the University of Dayton were not students, according to university officials. Dayton police initially reported that the woman that was allegedly assaulted was a student.

A passerby called police after seeing the two arguing near Miriam Hall on East Stewart Street, university police said. Police responded, and pursued the male suspect when he fled on foot toward Woodland Cemetery.

The suspect, later identified as Marcus A. Green, 25, was apprehended in the cemetery. The woman did not press charges, claiming she was not assaulted, but Green was arrested for outstanding warrants of probation violation and theft, according to Miami Valley Jail records.

Green was transported and processed at Montgomery County Jail. He is also booked on suspicion of obstructing official business and resisting arrest, jail records show.

UPDATE @ 3:05 p.m.: Dayton police are no longer on scene at Woodland Cemetery. It has not been confirmed if the male suspect was apprehended.
