“I’m going to stay optimistic that we can reach a settlement, because I know that’s what’s best for Dayton,” Corr said to our crew before entering negotiations.

“We all want the same thing, there’s no doubt in my mind.”

Corr said she was originally not part of negotiations when a federal mediator was called in.

“I think what we have to offer is very fair to teachers, and they deserve it, because I respect teachers, and I know that my administration team and board of education does as well.” Corr said. “We’re going to do the best we can.”

Corr said she does not believe the notice of the union’s notice of a strike will hurt negotiations between the district and the union.

“Its not going to hurt the spirit of negotiation because you still want the best. We’re going in to negotiate today with good faith. We just need both sides to give and take a little bit, and move forward because that’s what’s best for our kids.”

A spokesperson for the Dayton Education Association was not immediately available for comment.
