ST. LOUIS, MO — The University of Dayton men’s basketball team bounced back from a bad loss this week and won at Saint Louis, 71-63, Friday.

Javon Bennett was one of four Dayton players in double figures and finished with 19 points to lead the team. He shot 4-8 from three-point range.
UD came off a 75-53 loss at St. Bonaventure on Tuesday.
The Flyers improve to 15-7 overall, and 5-4 in the Atlantic 10.

Gibson Jimerson’s layup put SLU ahead, 8-5, but Bennett’s trey gave the Flyers a 9-8 advantage. They never trailed again.
Enoch Cheeks scored five straight points to extend Dayton’s lead to 26-15 with 8:30 left until halftime. It forced the Billikens to call a timeout.
Jacob Conner’s tip-in gave UD their largest advantage, 34-17, with 4:50 left in the first half.
The Flyers led 37-25 at halftime. They shot 54 percent in the first half.
Cheeks’ three extended the lead to 54-40 with 12:01 remaining. Saint Louis scored 12 straight points to cut the advantage to 54-52 with 7:04 left.
Bennett’s layup ended a five-plus minute scoreless drought. Nate Santos and Amael L’Etang made a trey to push the lead to 62-55 with 3:38 remaining.
The Flyers sealed the game by making 9-11 free throws, including five by Posh Alexander.
Cheeks added 14 points for Dayton while Santos had 13. Alexander scored 10 points off the bench.
UD’s next game is Tuesday night when they host Davidson at 7 p.m. at the UD Arena.
