HOUSTON — Dayton’s pain following the Oregon District mass shooting is affecting people all over the country, including in the Lone Star State.

News Center 7’s sister station in Houston, KHOU-TV, knew people there wanted to offer support, so they gave them the opportunity.

“I do appreciate the support from Houston,” Sherry Polzella of Dayton said.

It’s been a difficult week for Daytonians.

“It’s been extremely sad,” Sandy Daniels of Dayton said.

“It’s been frustrating,” Don Polzella said.

And that's a pain the Houston area understands following a deadly mass shooting last year.

News Center 7’s sister station KHOU put up a banner outside a Houston Astros game. Hundreds of people lined up in the Texas heat to write messages of encouragement, offer prayers, love and a reminder that Dayton will get through this.

“I jut think it’s fantastic that they took the time to send this up to Dayton,” Daniels said.
