DAYTON — A 14-year-old Dayton boy was taken to the hospital after he ate a gummy bear laced with a form of marijuana at school, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to Horizon Science Academy on Monmouth Street after a student reportedly overdosed Tuesday afternoon.
A 13-year-old boy gave the other student part of a gummy bear in the bathroom.
The teen then started to feel like his heart was racing, according to the police report.

Both students reportedly knew the gummy bears were laced with a type of synthetic marijuana.
The 13-year-old said he got the gummy bears from someone else and didn’t have any left, according to the report.

Both teens’ guardians were contacted and the 14-year-old was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital for observation.
