Report: Suspect in motorcycle crash that killed woman was under influence of drugs, alcohol

UPDATE @3 p.m. 5/24/18: A man arrested in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the crash, according to a Dayton crash report.

Robert Butt, 50, was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident, according to police and jail records.

According to the crash report, Butt was driving the motorcycle with the victim, Lynn Goss, 49, as a passenger. Butt was going an estimated 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the report.

Butt hit the median and went off the right side of the road where he struck a cement block wall, causing Goss to be ejected. He then collided with a speed limit sign and small tree, according to the report.

He then fled the scene, according to the report.

UPDATE @ 3:35 p.m. 5/23/18: A 50-year-old man has been arrested in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash that left a Dayton woman dead, according to a police spokeswoman.

Robert Butt was arrested Tuesday morning on preliminary charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident, according to police and jail records.

Butt remains in the Montgomery County Jail pending the filing of formal charges, according to investigators.

Butt is accused of leaving the scene of a crash in the 3300 block of Needmore Road on Sunday that killed 49-year-old Lynn Goss.

FIRST REPORT

A 49-year-old Dayton woman was killed in a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning on Needmore Road, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

Lynn Goss was pronounced dead at Grandview Hospital after the crash in the 3300 block of Needmore about 2:30 a.m., the coroner's office said.

Goss' death was ruled an accident and she was a passenger on the motorcycle, officials said.
