Dayton’s 26-game home winning streak ends losing to George Mason

DAYTON — The struggles continued for the Dayton Flyers as they fell 67-59 to the George Mason Patriots Wednesday night at the UD Arena.

The loss snaps UD’s 26-game home winning streak. Their last home was back in 2023 against George Mason.

The Flyers suffered its third loss in a row as they fell to 11-6 overall, 1-3 in the Atlantic 10.

Dayton trailed 6-0 to start after the Patriots made back-to-back three-pointers.

George Mason led by as much as 17 points in the first half, 28-11, at the 6:47 mark. UD trailed 41-27 at the break.

The Patriots built their largest lead of the game to 20 points, 58-38, with 11:01 left.

George Mason led 65-46 with 4:51 left but the Flyers scored 13 straight points to make it more respectable as they cut it 65-59 with 13 seconds left.

KD Johnson made two foul shots to cap the scoring for George Mason.

Nate Santos led Dayton with 28 points and made four treys. Malachi Smith added 14 and dished out five assists. Enoch Cheeks had 11 points.

UD will look to bounce back Saturday afternoon when they host Loyola Chicago at 4 p.m.
