Deputies on Thursday night were dispatched on a report describing "a distraught female" who was "hysterical."
The deputies, who have not been identified by name, found her sitting on the side of the overpass, about 25 feet above U.S. 35. Her legs were over the side of the bridge.
The first deputy on scene reassured the female he was there to help. He approached, grabbed her and pulled her to safety. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Sheriff Fischer said he wants citizens to know there is help for those who need it, offering TCN Behavioral Health (937-376-8701) as a place people in crisis can call 24 hours a day.
Fischer said he is "proud of how the deputies handled this situation" and is "grateful that no one was injured and this individual has the opportunity to seek help."
