DeWine to visit new Dayton mental health crisis center Monday

DAYTON — Gov. Mike DeWine is set to visit a new mental health crisis center in Dayton Monday.

DeWine will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Montgomery County Crisis Receiving Center Monday morning, according to a spokesperson for DeWine’s office.

The center will provide services 24/7 to those experiencing mental health or substance use crises, according to a release.

Law enforcement will also be able to utilize the center rather than taking someone to an emergency room or jail.

The center was developed in response to Montgomery County’s “Crisis Now” hotline and a 24/7 call center.

The call center was launched in January 2022 and has received 12,000 calls within the first year, according to a release.

Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Director Lori Criss will also attend the ceremony.
